Welcome! My name is Femmie Tuntisi and it is my passion to help you improve your health, wellness and to simply keep people moving through uMove Pilates in Pasadena .
I am committed to help you reach your goals by teaching you safe and effective core strengthening techniques. Whether it is to help alleviate chronic pain, so you can continue to enjoy outdoor recreational activities, or improve sports performance, I will work with you to reach your goals.
Pilates became my way of life. In today's stressful daily life, a well-balanced exercise routine is essential for a healthy body and mind. Pilates just makes sense. The focus is on creating low impact functional movement patterns. It makes you feel awesome!
My pilates training was with Marie-Jose Blom's team with Long Beach Dance Conditioning, internationally recognized for utilizing the most advanced approach to professional Pilates teacher training. Through this I completed a comprehensive curriculum and consistently participate in continuing education courses. I have studied extensively both as a student and teacher since 2008, gaining the knowledge and technique to develop a unique teaching style.
During my instruction, my technique will help you focus on alignment and form. My classes are a blend of contemporary and classical pilates. I believe fitness should be fun! Movement is a way of life and it is how we stay healthy, happy and energized.
Behind the Reformers
Over the span of two decades, my life-long friend Cheryl and I traveled several fitness roads.
Cheryl (Herlacher) Graves and I,
two inseparable girls born and
raised in Pasadena, CA.
She discovered pilates, and introduced
me to this enjoyable way of exercising.
Sometime later I began my training as an instructor.
In 2006, Cheryl opened the doors to Pilates 909, fulfilling her dream of sharing her knowledge and to create a place to inspire health and fitness.
25 years of experience in fitness and rehabilitation, Cheryl was featured in Shape Magazine for her expertise as a 'cutting edge trainer'.
In December of 2012, after being diagnosed with cancer, our beloved Cheryl passed.
She was, and still is, my inspiration to continue growing and learning. She was the force behind my dream of becoming an instructor and teaching others.
uMove Pilates is a
labor of love,
the result of friendship,
blessing of Cheryl
and her husband, Bob Graves.
I dedicate uMove Pilates to my dear friend, Cheryl.

WHERE DO I ENTER THE PILATES STUDIO AND WHERE DO I PARK?
We are located upstairs at 727 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena, just east of El Molino Ave. Look for our sunny yellow/white striped awning and head up the stairs to uMove Pilates.
There is plenty of free parking on the street directly outside the studio and around side streets. Across the street there is public parking, also accessible.
SHOULD I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS IN ADVANCE?
We are an 'appointment only' pilates studio. Every student needs to fill out a 'profile' online, sign up and pay in advance for an upcoming class to ensure there is space. (Students can purchase and reserve a spot for upcoming classes as far in advance as one month.)
*Please arrive 10 minutes early on your 1st visit to fill out a waiver and get a 'tour' of the equipment.
HOW DO I RESERVE A CLASS IN ADVANCE?
Reservations are made in advance online through our MindBody scheduling page. You can click "Book Online"
or "Book a Class" to reserve your spot.
FOR PRIVATE SESSIONS:
Please make your choice of purchase under the "Appointment" tab when booking thru Mindbody. Once purchased, we will notify you of upcoming availability for days/times of Private sessions. Or please call 626-210-0355 to leave a message regarding Private appointments.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Not a problem. You may cancel your pilates reservation free of charge up to 12 hours in advance for classes and the class will be credited back to you. If you cancel after this time you will be charged $25. If you late cancel and have a class pack, a class will be deducted from the remaining pilates classes in your class pack. For private pilates sessions, we have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy.
Cancelled pilates classes cannot be switched within the 12 hour window. All sales are final. Pilates classes are non-refundable, not exchangeable and non-transferable. If you need to cancel a reservation, log into MindBody, go to My Info, click My Schedule and Click Cancel next to the class time. If you have trouble cancelling or have questions, email the studio.
WHAT DO I WEAR TO MY PILATES CLASS?
We suggest you wear comfortable clothing to move in, along the same lines as a yoga class.
GRIP SOCKS REQUIRED.
We require socks with grip for safety and sanitary reasons. If you do not have socks with grip (ie: ToeSox), we have a limited supply of sizes/colors in the studio for purchase.
Please refrain from wearing any fragrances or perfumes. We want to be sensitive to clients with any allergies. Thank you.
IF I'M PREGNANT CAN I PARTICIPATE IN CLASS?
If you are pregnant, get your doctor's approval BEFORE beginning this or any other exercise program. If your doctor clears you, then yes, come and join us! Please let the instructor know that you are pregnant BEFORE pilates class so they can suggest modifications and variations to your workout. We highly suggest taking a Pregnancy Pilates Private so you may learn the modifications that are right for you and for baby.
CAN MY CHILDREN COME AND PARTICIPATE OR WATCH ME WORKOUT?
We love kids, but we do not allow children in the studio at this time. If you choose to attend with your child, you will be kindly asked to come back when you are able to attend another session. Children 16-17 years of age may attend class with a waiver on file signed by a parent or guardian. All waivers must be signed at uMove Pilates prior to the class.
WHAT IS YOUR CELL PHONE POLICY?
We prohibit cell phones during pilates classes. If you have an emergency situation, please excuse yourself from class to handle it. Please be respectful of your fellow classmates and teacher. Thank you.
